Membership

Children who have not had their 10th birthday

  • Like most athletic clubs, we do not accept registrations from children under 10.  

Children in School Year 5 who have had their 10th birthday

  • Young athletes may be registered with the club from their 10th birthday but will not be considered for membership until they start join Year 6.
  • Don't register your child if they're not 10 yet. You will have to apply again on or after their 10th birthday.

Athletes in School Years 6 to Year 9

  • THE YEAR 6 WAITING LIST IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE NUMBERS ALREADY REGISTERED
  • For athletes in Years 7 to 9, you can register your child but please note that we continue to have a long waiting list.
  • It will be at least several months, and often much longer, before we can offer a place at the club.
  • Once we have suitable vacancies, young athletes will be first invited to a three week mutual trial to assess their effort and commitment.
  • Athletes in Years 6 & 7 are usually first placed in a young athletes' training group which offers them the opportunity to experience a range of athletics events.

Athletes in School Years 10 or above and Seniors

  • Due to the way that our training groups are organised it may be very difficult to accommodate older beginners who don't have recent athletics competitive experience.
  • Fun runners should register with a local running club which will be able to better meet their current needs (e.g. Havering 90 Joggers, Harold Wood Runners).
  • Former/lapsed members of the club or established club athletes PLEASE email membership@havering

PLEASE ALSO READ THE FOLLOWING GENERAL INFORMATION FIRST:

  • All our coaches and other adult helpers at the club are volunteers who give up their time freely and without payment. In return, we expect athletes to be committed to the club. 
  • Our training nights at Hornchurch Stadium are Mondays and Wednesdays, and some groups also train on Sundays (by invitation). We expect athletes to train regularly (at least weekly) throughout the year.
  • Competitions are held at weekends and we expect athletes to compete for club teams regularly. Athletes who do not compete regularly will not be invited to renew their membership.
  • Sorry, but this isnít the club for athletes who are only interested in training during the summer to keep fit for other sports (e.g. hockey, football or rugby)
