| National Road Relays: Ashley Reece runs fastest leg | |
|
Ashley Reece recorded the fastest overall lap by an
u13 boy at the National Road Relays at Sutton Park today but hopes of team
success were dashed by late withdrawals. Team manager Mike Munson had an
incomplete U13 team of Reece and Matthew Watkins & the officials allowed
Chris Driscoll an U15 to run, so despite finishing
third the mixed-age team were ineligible for a medal.
The u15 girls team of Natalie Adams, Megan Foley and Sara Luck placed 7th as
Aldershot took all three medals, while the u13 girls team of Lauren Clark,
Lauren McVicar and Katie Richardson did well in 10th. For the boys Andrew
Hunter, Rob Howe and Andrew Bright were 42nd in the u17 event, while the u15
team of Andrew Luck, Ashley Roberts and Christian Newton placed
52nd. |

| Mayesbrook woes continue | |
|
The current problems at Mayesbrook Arena look set to continue until next summer and club officials are now resigned to relocating any home meetings to other venues. The home British Men's League Fixture in July will now be hosted by the club at Haringey. Any work on the track to remedy the effects of the tree root damage is unlikely to start before April 2002, probably much later - the popular winter warm up meetings are the first casualty. The continuing problems will be reflected in increased costs and loss of income for the club. added 23/10/01 |

Sara Luck smashed the club U15 pentathlon record scoring 2706 points as she placed fourth in the AAA's event in appalling wet conditions at Birmingham on Sunday. And teammate Caroline Smith kept the flag flying as she finished ninth against strong opposition. After a modest opening in the first three events, the long jump, shot and hurdles, Sara made up ground with a high jump win in 1.53m to leave her in 17th with her speciality the 800m to come. She blazed round the two laps in 2m 19.9 secs, some 20 seconds fastest than her opponents to lift her up to fourth overall. added 2/10/01 |
