The ladies Senior & U15 teams retained their place in the Alpha Trophy when finishing sixth at Haringey on Saturday.
The senior ladies team finished third in their category, aided by four B string victories. Helen Roche's finishing kick saw her come from behind for an excellent B 800m victory, while Lisa Schofield won the B 100m hurdles into the teeth of a gale.
On the field good points were earned in high jump and discus as Sara Luck won the B high jump with Bethan Siddons equal 2nd in the A on her senior debut, both clearing 1.55m. Lynsey Clark the B discus with her 37.14m effort while Mel Harrison placed 3rd in the A event with 38.24m. Harrison was also fourth in the shot.
The Brennan sisters, Claire & Nina picked up good points. Claire was fourth in the A 100m hurdles and B javelin, and fifth in the 5400m hurdles, while Nina returned from injury with third in the B 400m flat. Lauren Clark and Laurie Cooper were both fourth in their 400m and 80m A races.
For the depleted U15 team points were hard to come by as the team finished seventh. Best points were gained in the javelin as the promising Kike Oniwinde won the A string for the u15s only victory with Nicole Dalton 2nd in the B.
Other good placings came in the discus as Rebecca Luck and Sam Hill were 3rd & 2nd and in the 1500m where Zoey Littlechild & Emma Fox.
When the overall points were tallied up the combined team retained their place in the Alpha Trophy by one and a half points from Stevenage , who along with 8th placed Milton Keynes were relegated to the Beta competition for 2007.
