Ginte Bailey recorded the third fastest ever time by a club female - only Debbie Appleton and Robyn Matson have run faster - but was left disappointed as cramps from 14 miles onwards affected her expected sub-three hour time. A half-way clocking of 1:29.14 had given hope that the Upminster-based Lithuanian would crack the barrier but she had to settle for a respectable 3:09.09 finish time, over five minutes inside her previous best.

The club's other two contenders were Graham Hogan who clocked 1:35.29 on his way to 3:15.29 in his first marathon since 2011, and first-timer Richard Rowe who came home in 3:52.57.
