The senior men's team returned to British League action after a six year gap placing fifth in a tight finish in their first round match hosted by Edinburgh at Pitreavie on Saturday. Veteran skipper Mark Bishop inspired with a seven-event effort and contributed one of only three wins, in the B javelin. He was third in the A shot, second in the B discus, fourth in both B hurdles and ran in both relays. U20 Bradley Reece provided another win in the B hammer and was third in the A discus. Jason Lendon ran well to win the B 'chase, with Rob Warner third in the A Luke Stott (200m) and Andy Lewis (400m) claimed good runners up track spots. Stott was also fourth in the 100m with Lewis in the same position in the B. Veteran Matt Bland's fine form continued with an excellent 1500m best since joining the vets ranks. David Nefs was a fine runner up in the 400m A and was fourth in the 800m also. Anthony Williams had a busy day setting a PB in placing third in the 110m Hurdles, and earning valuable points in the long, high and triple jumps. Junior Adam McCarthy was a good third in 400mHurdles and gained 200m points, and Sam Harrison was third in the javelin. Dan Gamester was fourth in the A hammer and fifth in the B shot, Vince Lazaro was fourth in the triple jump and the injured Joe Ramie fifth in the long jump after aggravating his hamstring with his first jump. The middle distance boys worked hard with Rob Dickenson tackling 800m and 5000m double, where he was paired with Chris Coates who placed fourth in the A. Rob Warner also added 1500m fourth place points. Yeovil AC were the run way winners and Coventry adrift in sixth but just 13 point covered second to fifth and the HMAC team will be hoping to have a stronger squad for another challenging trip to Exeter in Round 2 on 4 July. |
