A youthful British Athletics League men's team - including seven Under 20s, survived another difficult away fixture when they placed fourth at Exeter on Saturday.

Andy Lewis had an excellent 400m A race win in a new career best of 49.40s to move up to fourth on the club all-time u20 list and 12th on the senior list. He also contributed legs to both relay squads.

Anthony Williams also set new personal marks to win the 110m hurdles in 16.08s and now looks set to crack the 16 secs barrier and claim a place in the club all-time top 10. He was also fourth in the long jump and fifth in both triple and high jumps, and ran the opening relay leg.

There were five B string points maximums. Joe Ramie, although not at full fitness after a hamstring pull, won both B long & triple jumps

Jason Lendon repeated his B 'chase victory from Round 1 and in the A string Rob Warner improved to second.

There were B throws wins for Leo Barker (shot) and Sam Harrison (javelin).  Harrison covered gaps in the hammer & discus, as did his javelin partner Georgie Bean who placed n the hammer before throwing close to his javelin PB  for fourth in his league debut. Another newcomer was Emmanuel Quarshie who improved his PB with the senior shot for third.

Luke Stott's good form continued as he was runner up to Coventry's Joel Fearon in both 100m & 200m, and he ran legs in both relays. Charlie Moss showed that his early season injuries are behind him with third places in both sprints and a relay leg.

Juniors Callum Sutton (1500m) and Adam McCarthy (pole vault) also placed third, with McCarthy fifth in both hurdles too.  Grant Twist, another u20, doubled up in both 800m & 1500m, and Paul Adair returned from injury in both 400m, 800m and 4x400m relay.  Jay Ryan equalled his high jump PB for fifth and was also fifth in the vault and ran in the 4x400m relay.

The 5k pairing of Graham Hogan & Rob Dickenson added six points with their efforts in the longest track event.

Yeovil and Exeter have placed first and second in both matches and look strong promotion contenders but just two points cover the other four teams. The team are fourth in the six-team table at the half way stage, with a home meeting next time out.
