A battling fifth place finish at Yeovil on Saturday lifted the men's British League squad to fourth place in the table at the half-way stage.

Richard Morrissey again improved his club U20 400m record in taking victory in the A string event for one of only two A string individual victories. And his 48.04s PB clocking sealed his selection for the GB Juniors 4x400m relay team at the World Junior Championships in Monckton Canada later this month.

Luke Stott provided the second A string win with a confident 200m victory.

Richard also was a member of the fine 4x100m relay quartet who comfortably ran out winners. The other three runners Joseph Ramie, Isaac Ogunlade and Shaun Stewart all scored well in their individual events. Joseph was second in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump, Isaac ran a fine 400m hurdles season's best in third and was fifth in the 200m and Shaun was runner up in both 100m & 400m B events.

Richard, Shaun and Isaac were also in 4x400m action combining for third place with Paul Adair whose first outing in club colours this term placed him seventh in the 800m.

Skipper Mark Bishop provided another stirring display with a B string 110m hurdles victory in a season's best adding season's bests in his other three events, pole vault, discus and shot.

Anthony Williams could not equal his first match successes but was second in the B triple jump and third in the long jump as well as sixth in the hurdles. First round winner Rob Warner had to settle for a creditable third place this time out.

Sam Harrison covered gaps in the throws in addition to his fourth place javelin speciality, with Georgie Bean second in the javelin B. Emmanuel Quarshie was fifth in the B shot and new recruit Jeremy Watson brushed away the cobwebs after a long break from competition with a high jump sixth place.

Sixteen year-old Massi Dendani made the most of his opportunity against senior competition with an 800m PB, as did U20Jamie Buckley-Stanton in the 1500m.  Adam McCarthy added vital points in the 400m Hurdles, 1500m and pole vault, and middle distance runners Chris Smith braved the hot conditions to score in the 5000m.

The result lifts the club to fourth in the table but the positions are tightly poised and with the bottom two clubs Southampton and Swansea hosting the final two fixtures on 31st July and 21st August nothing can be taken for granted.
