The men's British League team are anchored at the bottom of the table after bringing up the rear again in their second fixture at Abingdon on Saturday. With several athletes unavailable it was always going to be a struggle but despite managing to cover every slot with the athletes available the hard-working squad finished almost 30 points adrift.

Isaac Ogunlade provided the only win, extending his winning league streak in the 400m hurdles to six races, with George Hadler placing second in the B event. Hadler also tackled the individual 400m, stepped into the triple jump at short notice, and ran in both relays, while Ogunlade was also a member of both relay quartets.

Another second place over the barriers went to Jason Lendon in the B string 3000m steeplechase while Rob Warner who had been poorly all week was fourth in the A 'chase and also set a new PB in the 3000m flat.

Emmanuel Quarshie won third place points in the A shot, and also competed in discus & hammer, while the industrious Jeremy Watson was third in the 110m Hurdles and scored in the 400m, high & triple jumps, pole vault & both relays.

Pat Lear was third in the B javelin and Sam Harrison was fifth in the A javelin, also covering the hammer, discus & shot in the absence of specialist throwers in these events. Robbie Clarricoats improved his 200m PB despite facing a stiff breeze and also scored in the 100m but had to withdraw from other scheduled events due to a sore toe, while Karl Tucker marked his league debut with points in the 100m, long & high jump before a foot injury forced him out too.  Higher Claim athlete Luke Williams was fourth in the pole vault and Jack Edgar-Hill's best position was fifth in his sprint hurdles speciality, adding points in 200m, long jump and both relays.

Paul Grange & Jamie Buckley-Stanton both doubled up in the 800m & 1500m and veteran Matt Bland added 3000m points.

The result leaves the squad three points adrift at the foot of the division at the half-way stage in the season, with a visit to Kingston next time round in July.
