Victories in three age groups and equal first in another couldn't stop the combined boys' & girls' Eastern YAL squad suffering a home defeat by Bedford on Sunday. 

There was the usual a glut of good results and Michael Waller's 400m win (u17m) and Hayley Thomas' sub-5mins 1500 victory (u15g) stood out, as did the trio of wins by Harrison Ellis in the u13 boys. 

For the u17 girls Vicky Smith continued her come back from injury with an 800m win, with Rachel Gildea winning the B, while Helen Roche was first home in the 1500m. Louise Yard won both shot & discus , and Emma Christmas won the javelin. 

The u15 girls ran out winners in their category. In addition to Hayley Thomas' breakthrough 1500m success Charlotte Humphreys set a new PB in winning the B 800m. Nicola Hill dashed back from the South of England champs just in time to win the B hurdles, with other wins coming from Ingrid Deane (long jump B), Lauren Newton (discus ) with Amie Adams notching up a B string throws double in the discus & javelin. 

Lilla Jacks & her partners Rebecca Clements & Alex Edwards had a sprint clean sweep in the u13 girls events, and B string throws wins came from Georgia Davies (shot) and Samantha Hill (discus).

Eugene Ayanful continues his improvement in the u15 boys sprints winning the 100m in a new PB and placing a close second in the 200m. Daniel Winters won the B 800m with Bradley Reece, Ben Warden & Chris Van Ristell in good form in the throws with discus & javelin doubles.

Michael Waller was a good winner in the u17 boys' 400m, and Ross Clarke won the B 800m. There were good results in the  throws as Alex van Ristell, Harry Tyler and Ashley Reece won the discus, javelin and B shot respectively.

The impressive & versatile Harrison Ellis stared for the U13 boys with winning PBs in the 800m, high jump and shot. Simon Brown, with a B 100mwin, was the only other victor.
