The Eastern Young Athletes Squad took a step closer to another end of season Top Six Final place with a comfortable win in their third round match at Watford on Sunday, despite missing several athletes on junior league or London Youth Games duty.

Victories and personal bests came across the board in all age groups and events.

Highlights in the sprints were U17 doubles for Daniel McDowall and Devon Samson – the latter adding long jump top points – and the duo teamed up with Liam Hughes & Dan Winters to win relay honours. For the U15s Jordan Brown dipped below 12 secs to win the 100m and Ryan Blake came out on top in the U13 equivalent. Leah Summers clocked PBs in both U17 sprints and Rachel Kerr added B victories, while in the U15 100m Rebecca Clements also ran faster than before.

The middle distance events as usual brought a crop of victories.  John Whitehead won A 1500m and B 800m, with Dan Winters taking the B 1500m. Jamie Buckley-Stanton added another 1500m win for the U15s after Liam Bush had won the 800m.  Ryan O’Mahoney improved his PB in the U13 800m for second and Tyler Bennett won the B. Alex Beard was a good winner in the U17 Goirls 800m in a new PB and Emma Fox made it a double win in this event. In the U15s Eleanor Bounds again improved her 1500m PB to win and for the U15s Amanda Blaxland & Nancy Kane won both 800m strings and Becky Stanley added the 1500m.

In the hurdles Jessica Seekings carved chunks off her PB to win, beating training mate Nicola Peachey who took B honours. Jake Nelson added a PB in the u15 hurdles and Fred Mokoso and Ryan Blake scored double top for the U13s.

The jumps brought a new face as Jimi Tele finally got clearance to compete to win the U15 long jump but non-scorer Terry Hughes outshone him with a massive PB.  Jordan Brown won the B and Devon Samson added anoth long jump win for the U17s. Angela James won the U17 high jump and Sacha Martin and Ella Dearman both won their U13 high jump strings.

Highlights in the throws were Sophie Baggs’ massive winning U15 discus PB edging ever closer to 30m and Lannahn Leary- Kiernan’s win & PB in the B. Newcomer Emmanuel Quarshie impressed with a good win in the U17 shot. Debbie Knight set a new PB to win the U13 discus (with Erin Baggs winning the B)  and also won the shot, with Laura Drew took the B.
