The Eastern Young Athletes Squad survived an eventful afternoon to emerge as winners by almost 150 points, in their fourth round league fixture. John Whitehead suffered a black out as he raced to the line in the U17M 800m and subsequently most of the afternoon in hospital, accompanied by team manager Gordon Kerr, before returning towards the end of the meeting. A little after this Tyler Bennett had an extended visit to the first aid tent, then subsequent treatment by an ambulance crew for a neck injury, caused by a muscle spasm which left him in great discomfort. The HMAC squad notched up victories in four of the six age groups. Both U15 teams had big margins of victory, with the girls 29 points & the boys 27 points clear of Luton. The U15 girls had no fewer than 13 wins, with six A string successes. English Schools champion Kike Oniwinde return to club colours win shot & javelin wins, and Sam Hill (Discus A & shot B), Lannahn Leary-Kiernan (discus B) and Nicole Dalton (javelin B – PB) completed the throwing clean sweep. Alex Edwards contributed a sprint double in 200A & 100m B, Nicola Peachey & Jess Seekings made it a hurdles double while Seekings added a B 300m win. Dalton again (long jump) and Rebecca O’Neill (800m) completed the victory roll. The U15 boys added a dozen wins, Jordan Brown completed a hat trick on wins in both sprints & long jump, with Jimi Tele providing winning support in 100 & long jump B. The pair were joined by Sean Ostermeyer & Rhys Stevenson in the winning sprint relay squad. Jamie Buckley-Stanton won the 800m A and took the B high jump for good measure. Liam Bush added the B 800m and Terry Fairbanks the B 1500m and Jon Seekings’ hurdles B success completed the track wins, and Jake Nelson’s B discus win completed the tally. The U17 women racked up a big win against weak opposition. Rebecca Luck starred with a trio of wins in shot, discus & B triple jump (PB). Rebecca Rollinson win B hurdles & discus, and Bethan Siddons won A triple jump. B throws wins went to Rachel Kerr (Javelin and Alex Beard (shot). Leah Summers ran well to win the 200 A & Angela James took the B high jump. The U13 boys won their section. Fred Mokoso & Ryan Blake doubled up for wins in both hurdles & long jump and B throws wins went to Danny Wilson (discus) and Luke Overton (shot). The U17 men lost out to the hosts. Joseph Ramie returned from injury to win the triple jump & set a long jump PB. Dan Winters (800m) and Simon Brown (1500m) won their A string events with Brown also adding B hurdles, and did Georgie Bean & Jordan Jackson took a javelin double. The U13 girls gained useful experience, with Deborah Knight and Laura Drew contributing wining doubles in both shot & discus. Becky Stanley’s 1500m win was the only other victory.
