There was a disappointing end to the league season as Chelmsford made full use of home advantage to beat league champions Bedford & runners up Havering Mayesbrook to the Top Six Final Shield.

The U17 boys provided the highlights, taking the age group trophy with a strong team performance. Joseph Ramie showed superb promise. He smashed his long jump PB with a 6.32m leap, but only good enough for third in a high quality competition, added a 100m PB, before rounding off with an excellent  PB winning performance of 13.43m in the triple jump, 42cms better than before and fifth best ever by a club U17.  Gabriel Makinwa’s PB in the B event ensured full points.

Georgie Bean was close to his best with a javelin victory and B string wins came from Bradley Reece in the shot and Devon Samson in the B 100m - the only track success from a HMAC athlete all day.

The throwing events again also delivered the goods in the other age groups. Brad Burr threw his second furthest ever javelin effort to take u15 honours and Michael Jones won the B discus in this age group. Jones added an 800m PB, as did Jimi Tele whose long jump PB of 5.85m earned him second place points. James Drew’s javelin PB also gained B string second place and he equalled his high jump best.

Danny Wilson & Luke Overton were in top form for the u13s. Wilson set PBs in all his three events, spinning the discus out to 24.36m - second on the club all time list with Overton's 21.85m PB winning the B. Wilson added B shot maximum with Overton's PB in the A string placing him fourth.

For the girls Bethan Siddons & Angela James won both high jump strings in the U17s. For the U15s there was again almost a throws clean sweep as Kike Oniwinde's added a winning shot PB to her customary javelin success. Sophie Baggs won the A discus & Sam Hill partnered Kike & Sophie with B string wins in both events.

Deborah Knight and Laura Drew starred for the U13s winning both discus strings, Drew with a PB. The previous day Debbie had improved her club u13 javelin record at the JavFest at Bedford to 26.31m, with Laura in second with a new PB of 22.13m, for second on the all-time list.
