The Eastern Young Athletes League team were narrow winners in their Round 1 fixture at Lee Valley yesterday, snatching the match from Luton by two points.

Bradley Burr led a strong showing from the U17 men. His 60.75m javelin winning throw was second best ever by a club U17 and second best in the UK this summer. Georgie Ban took the B string, one of three B string maximums, and was also second in the B discus.

Emmanuel Quarshie went to fourth on the club all time shot list with his 13.81m put edging out Laurence Goodacre's B string winning 13.47m PB, which now ranks fifth best club all time. Gabriel Makinwa won the triple jump to add to the field success.  Simon Brown won the B 800m and Daniel Shanney was second in the A. Other second places went  to Jack Edgar-Hill & Kieran Nelson (100m hurdles A & B), James Lammin (LJ -B), and Jaie Buckley-Stanton (1500m – B).

For the U17 women there were A string wins for Zoey Littlechild (1500), Kelly Jarrold (HJ) and Amy Cox (HT) and two B string successes from Katherine Knight (JT) and U15 Patsy McWeeney (1500m).  The 800m pairing of Amber Turner & Michelle Lovell were both second.

Sophie Baggs (DT) and Debbie Knight (JT) added two U15 Girls A string wins. Laura Drew added a pair of B string wins in both events. Rachel Sadler (1500m) and Nicola Peachey (75mHurdles) were both second and their B partners Sharmila Golan & Jess Seekings won their strings. Peachey & Seekings were also second in A & B 300m and Amanda Blaxland was second in the 800m B.

For the U13 Girls Avril Loynes starred with wins in A 1500m and B discus. Sacha Martin was victorious in the high jump and second in the long jump. A pair of runners up spots were earned by newcomers Georgie Taylor (A Discus and B shot) and Rosie Brett (1500m)

The U13 Boys contributed four wins. Finbar Smyth & Nicholas Shade won 800m A & B and Lee Jarrold (HJ) added winning A string points. Nick Duffey won the B 1500m and was second in the B discus
