Two club records fell as the EYAL team were runners up in the Top 6 final behind the powerful hosts at Chelmsford on Sunday. The impressive Georgie Taylor went to the top of the 2009 national rankings when she again added to her club u13 girls’ discus record throwing a superb 32.31m - the tenth longest discus throw ever by an u13 girl. Georgie also added a B shot victory and high jump points. The U13s have struggled all season but on the day produced the best result, placing second. Sprint find Tia Telford-Dickson produced a double win in the 100 & 200m and Rebecca Fox was the B string discus winner. Rachel Forder’s PB earned her A shot runners up points and Lydia Hallam was also second in the 1500m. Multi eventer Josh Olawore also bettered a U15 boys club record when he ran 11.4s in the 80m Hurdles - but had to settle for second spot behind English Schools medallist Chris Gaddes. Josh also added PBs in 100m & long jump. Danny Wilson was over 40m again in wining the A discus and Josh Conners produced the only other win in this age group in the B 800m, while Ryan O’Mahoney and Tom Davis were both second in the 1500m. For the under 17 men Laurence Goodacre improved his season’s best to win the shot and also added a discus victory and javelin runners up spot, and Jack Edgar-Hill comfortably won the hurdles, equalled his PB to win the B high jump and improved his 100m best for B string second. B string wins came virtue of Joseph waked (1500m) and Jordan Brown (javelin) and Massi Dendani (400m) and Dean Leftly (B 800m ) were second. The under 13 boys were missing a few key athletes and had to settle for just three wins – Alex law won both hurdles and discus and Alex Burr took B discus honours and was second in the shot. Chris Gell was second in the B hurdles. Kike Oniwinde was the only A string winner for he under 17 women and also took shot runner up. There were two throws B string wins thanks to Sophie Baggs (shot) and Katherine Knight (discus). Baggs was also second n the discus and Holly Thomas was second in the hurdles & 100m. Other second places went to Nicola Peachey (B hurdles) and Becky O’Neill (1500m). Ricarda Chapman smashed her PB to win the 100m – which proved to be the only win for the under 15 girls. Second places went to Laura Drew (hammer & B Javelin), Debbie Knight (B hurdles - PB) and Erin Baggs (B discus). Chelmsford won four age group titles for a strong overall victory in this closing club competition of the summer season. |
