The Eastern Young Athletes team's league title hopes were dented when they were well beaten by Chelmsford, who hosted the round four fixture at Braintree on Sunday.

There were four age group wins but it was heavy defeats by Chelmsford in the depleted U13 and U15 age groups which clinched the overall result for the hosts.

The U17 girls were again the most successful female team. Holly Thomas eased back into club competition after her English Schools' debut with wins in the 80m hurdles & B jump and ably partnered by Nicola Peachey who won both B contests. But it was an overall team performance that saw them beat Chelmsford by seven points.

The hosts pushed the U17 Men all the way. Jamie Buckley-Stanton's 800m victory was the only A string track win , as was Jordan Brown's long jump the sole field A win but five B string wins and string finishes across the patch saw off the host's challenge. Adam Samuel (100m), Michael Lewis (200) and Ross Earney (1500m) provide the B track wins and Buckley-Stanton (HJ) and Jake Nelson (LJ) won on the field.

The U15 boys have been getting stronger as the summer season wars on and they emerge victorious as just five points separated four teams in this age. English Schools' triple jump medallist Josh Olawore made his club debut with impressive wins in 100m & hurdles and Hosea Gikungu's B 800m victory was backed up by Ryan O'Mahoney's massive PB in placing second in the A.

The U13 boys were comfortable winner but Alex Law's discus win was the only A string podium place.  The squad's strength prevailed however with three B victories and a relay win. Nathan Jackson came home first in the 100B, James Wright was fastest 800m B runner and Jamie Croft jumped further than the other other B string long jumpers and Charles Hammond won the B shot.

Despite heavy team defeats the short-handed U13 and U15 Girls produced some good individual marks. .

Lydia Hallam's superb U13 girls’ 1500m victory in 5:10.1 took her to seventh on the club all-time list. Georgie Taylor won both shot & discus with PBs and her 28.07m throw in the latter takes her closer to the club record of 28.52m while her 8.52m shot put was fourth best ever by a club u13.

Rylie Trott was a fine winner in the 75m hurdles and Debbie Knight made it a double victory in the B, and also  won the A javelin. Laura Drew made a welcome return from injury to win the B javelin  and was second in both discus and hammer.
