The Eastern Young Athletes Squad top the table after two rounds after a crushing 200 point victory at Luton on Sunday, winning all six age groups

Both U17 teams were dominant.  The U17 men won eight A string events and nine B strings. There were track doubles in the 800m (Massi Dendani & Josh Conners) and 1500m (Hoseah Gikungu & Conners again). Field doubles came from Jake Nelson & Harry Phillips (high jump), Ashley Purnell & Nelson again (long jump), Danny Wilson & Luke Overton (discus) and Patrick Lear and Purnell again (javelin). Andrew Kerr added a fine hammer & pole vault double and Massi Dendani (400m) & Jon Seekings (hurdles) added two B victories.

Debbie Knight starred for the U17 women again improving her javelin best to 33.95m for second on the club all time list and added a 200m winning PB and 100m runners up.  Patsy McWeeney won the B javelin and 800m, and Sophie Reynolds won three events with 800 A, 200m B and B high jump. Rylie Trott doubled up with wins in B hurdles & 100m, and Jess Seekings won 300m B and high jump. Laura Drew completed the win tally with B discus success.

Strength in depth saw both Under 15 squads win their sections. The U15 men only had one A string winner – Thomas Howard in the hammer – and B victories from Andrew Holland (1500m), Alex Law (discus) and Oliver Garwandoe (javelin). Garwandoe also showed potential at pole vault with a 2.30m clearance for sixth on the all-time list. Second places in five A string and six B string events plus a glut of PBs saw off the opposition.

The U15 girls again had a field day as Georgie Taylor (discus and hammer A, and shot B) and Rachel Forder (javelin A & discus B) added five victories with Lydia Hallam (1500m) adding the other.

The U13 girls tasted victory as Heidi Surman-Wells contributed the only two A string wins in the 800m and hurdles, both in PB times. Freya Gutteridge (hurdles) and Tolu Akingbade (high jump) provided B string victories and the pair joined Amy Baggs and Emma Whitby for relay success.

The U13 boys remarkably came out on top despite no individual wins and they had to wait until the final event the relay before claiming maximum points as Sam Dell, Liam Norman, Robert Woodgate & Alex Hewitt crossed the line first.
