Runners up spot behind unbeaten runaway league leaders Bedford at a very damp Bury St Edmunds took the Eastern Young Athlete squad one step nearer a place in the Top 6 final.

The Under 17 Men were runners up to Bedford. Jack Noons won the pole vault and Paul Okesola's winning discus PB took him into the club all time Top 10. Newcomer Darren Kwateng won the B long jump and was second in the triple jump and a host of second places came from Richard Peel (100m A) & Matt Owers (400m A) both PBs, Shandell Taylor (Long jump A), Kieran Riddell (400m & hurdles - both PBs) and Elliott Addison (B discus).

Tobi Idowu's long jump victory was the sole A string wins for the Under 15 boys and Tobi also added B string 100m victory and JJ Morris won the B 300m in a fast time on his debut, after runners up spot in the 100m A. John Fennessey was 2nd in the 800m A and Ben Hamberger was the only other individual runner up in the B hurdles before the sprint relay quarter of Nathan Leach, Tobi, JJ &Sam Mezoori were also second.

Kareem Jerome again dominated both Under 13 boys sprints while newcomer Kimathi Christie impressed in winning the 800m. Peter Brinton-Quinn won the javelin and was second in the discus and Hall Hutton won the B discus and was second in the B javelin. Daragh Thomas marked his debut with second place in the high jump. The boys ended the meeting in style as Victor Hughes, Ashton Thatcher-Gray, Kimathi and Kareem won the relay.

The Under 13 girls came closest to victory as six points covered the top three reams, recording five A & three B string wins. The fast improving Elize Bonning won the hurdles in a new PB and was second in the B high jump, Ruby Mace's high jump PB brought her victory and she was also runner up in the javelin. The throws were a happy hunting ground as Robyn Moody (A shot & discus), Alice Brown (B discus), Adelaide Thatcher-Gray (A javelin) and Grace Griffiths (B shot) all came up trumps, with Griffiths also second in the B hurdles. More B string second places went to Hannah Panchal (800m) & Sydney Foley (1500m).

The Under 15 girls were lacking several regulars but still scored well. Isobel McDonach & Philippa Gill won both shot strings, as did Sophie Taylor & Rosie Brown in the discus, with Brown also winning the 300m B string race in a new PB. Kate O'Neill won the 800m B as Jess Mitchell was second in the A and more middle distance second places were claimed by the 1500m pairing of Molly Sweetman & Sophie Rand. Charlotte Fransham won the B long jump, Natasha Dowie was second in the high jump while Jade Kavanagh had trio of  second places in the 200m & long jump A & 100m B.

The already short-handed Under 17 Women were hit by further late withdrawals but those who competed scored well. Lucy Scrutton won the B discus with Amy Baggs winning the B and Elysha Thatcher-Gray won the shot. Holly Nash the B 300m in a new PB and was second in the B 100m and Shannon Dooley added hurdles second place points.
