In the end a comfortable victory was achieved at Southend despite missing many top young athletes taking part in the South Of England Championships at Watford.

During the day the hardest job was to overcome the problems caused by a lack of officials (otherwise occupied at the Championships). As a result the meeting overran by an hour.

Once again the U17Women dominated the proceedings. There was a clean sweep of victories in all bar one of the track races. Christina Kalejaiye had a hat-trick of individual victories (100m, 200m & Long Jump) and then brought the relay team home for an impressive victory. Amy Rogers, Jenny Szantai, Caroline Smith & Carmel Munson all had double victories. The two – Robyns - Matson and Delivett – both recorded PBs in winning their 1500m and 300m events.

U17 Men
Star performer was Terry O'Leary with hat-trick of Victories in  the throws, which included yet another PB in the discus with 35.95m. Terry also launched the Javelin 46.44m which would have been a PB but for throwing nearly  7m further the day before at Watford. Christian Newton almost made it a double hat-trick winning the B string Discus & Shot but unfortunately was unable to get a Javelin throw to count!

U15 Girls
Helen McDonnell had an excellent day winning the 75m Hurdles 12.1s, equalling her PB and then going on to win the 200m & High Jump. There was also a double 1st in the 1500m from Charlotte Humphries & Clare Robinson.

U15 Boys
Star performers were twins Bradley and Scott Tungatt who led all the way to win the 1500m in 4m58.6s. Matthew Watkins managed a double first in the 400m & 800m. Anthony Williams and Matthew Jones both improved their hurdles PBs

U13 Girls
Nicola Hill had an outstanding afternoon with victories in the 75m Hurdles, Discus & Shot. Catrina McAuliffe supported Nicola winning the B String Hurdles in a new PB and also winning the A string Shot.

U13 Boys
A double win in the High Jump with 2 PBs for Diamuid Sherry (1.20m) & Kurtis De Souza (1.05m). Victories were hard to come by in this age group.
