Havering Mayesbrook U17's
lost their unbeaten record to a very determined Basildon side by only 16 points
despite losing many athletes to other fixtures clashing.
U17
Women:
Victories where hard to come
by in this very competitive age group. Emma Bonny managed two PB's in the High
Jump (1.50m) & 100m (13.5s), finishing 2nd & 3rd respectively, before
finishing on a winning note in her Long Jump. The only other victories where
from Caroline Smith & Hayley Charman in the B string discus & 800m.
U15 Girls:
Lucy Sargent did the sprint
double winning the 100m & 200m in 12.6s & 26.0s, but although she ran a
tremendous bend was unable to help the sprint team to win, finishing 2nd in
52.7s. A double victory was gained by the excellent combination of Katie
Richardson & Lauren Clark in the 800m in 2m 19.2s & 2m 22.1s
respectively.
U13
Girls:
Elizabeth James three
victories in the Long Jump, 70m H & Discus showing great versatility. Louisa
Woods managed two wins in the 800m & Shot as did Bethan Siddons in the Long
Jump & High Jump.
U17
Men:
Joe Golding was the star in
the U17's front running a PB and just missing breaking two minutes for the first
time winning in 2m 00.3s. Christian Newton had a double victory in the Discus
& Shot and might have made it a triple but for a swirling wind which
prevented him getting a valid throw in the Javelin.
U15
Boys:
Some excellent victories in
this age group led by an fast middle distance double by Ashley Reece winning the
800m in a PB of 2m 05.8s, with Ross Clarke winning the B String. Ashley then won
the 1500m easily in 4m 28.4s. Anthony Williams & Ross Clarke managed a High
Jump double with 1.55m & 1.30m respectively.
U13
Boys:
Steve McLachlan had 3
victories winning the Long Jump, 75mH & 1500m, where he was ably supported
by Ben Wooley who won the B string. Alex Chapman won the B String Discus &
Shot.
