English Schools Championships - Sheffield Friday 10th & Saturday 11th July 2009

There were three medals - two silvers and a bronze - as nine club athletes matched it with the country's best

Nicola Hill signed off her English Schools' career with a silver medal to add to her gold two years ago.  Nicola posted another fine performance of 60.94s to place second to her Essex teammate Lauren Bouchard in the senior girls' 400m hurdles event and the pair joined with Basildon sprinter Kirsty Shepherd and Braintree long jumper Alesha Kiddle to win another silver for Essex in the 4x100m relay. She was also honoured with the role of team captain as Essex retained the overall team title

Triple Jumper Josh Olawore performed well in his first national competition to place second in the junior boys' event with 12.81m.  The talented all rounder from Aveley who only joined the club last month will also represent Essex at pentathlon in the English Schools Combined vents Championships in September.

Kike Oniwinde added to her school's medal tally with another bronze medal with 42.76m in the Inter Girls javelin - her second longest throw. She took the lead in the first round but Freya Jones (Hants) and Danielle Bentley (Manchester) overhauled her as top-ranked Danielle Anderson was fourth.
