Havering Mayesbrook athletes came away with 17 medals seven of them gold – from this weekend’s two-day Essex Indoor Championships at Lee Valley On Saturday there was a good start as Nicola Hill took gold in the U20 Women's 400m with her 60.07s clocking and Georgie Taylor stepped up into the U15 age group with a shot put victory with 9.08m. There were five more golds, five silvers and a bronze at the second day on Sunday. There was a fine U13 boys 200m victory from Alexander Hewitt who clocked 29.2s for gold. Emanuel Quarshie improved his PB to take gold in the U20 Men's shot with 13.88m and Annie Adewole's 8.83m effort took gold in the U17W equivalent. Jack Edgar-Hill's superb form continued as he broke the club U20 indoor hurdles best for the third time in for weeks stopping the clock at 8.42s. Josh Olawore's busy day earned him four U17 medals - triple jump gold with 12.36m, and three silvers in the long jump (6.06m PB), high jump (1.65m - PB) and hurdles (8.71m). Silver medals came on Saturday from Massi Dendani who was timed at 4:32.15s for runners up spot in the U17 Men's 1500m and Alex Law whose long jump PB of 5.08m was just 8cms short of victory. Law was sixth in the U15 hurdles final after his heat win in 10.11s and was fourth in the 60m semi-final. Alexander Hewitt won silver in the U13 Boys 60m in a PB of 8.72s after winning his heat in 8.81s. Holly Thomas again improved her best with 8.88s for silver in a high quality U17 hurdles race and Laurence Goodacre's 12.06m put won him silver behind Quarshie in the U20 competition. Danny Wilson set a new 400m PB of 55.46s to take bronze in the U17M event and Ashley Purnell's 5.78m long jump brought him U17 long jump bronze. |
