Another County Championship and another team medal. The senior men fielded four complete teams and although many were suffering from illness or injury the team spirit is so good that none of them wanted to miss out on today’s event.

The A team started with Trevor Keys running the club’s fastest leg of the day, bringing the team home in 4^th place. He handed over to Rob Warner who brought the team up to 3^rd before Steve Rand took the baton and fought his way up to 2^nd. On the anchor leg Matt Bland, after suffering with a flu bug all week, just couldn’t hold off the last home team runner but held on to bring the team home in the bronze medal place.

The B team had many of the top runners who had suffered illness during the week. Gavin Maley ran the first leg and handed over to Jason Lendon in 15^th place. Jason brought the team up to 13^th. Glen Hill then took up the challenge and handed over to Ian Anthony in 12^th place. Anthony fought his way up to 9^th almost taking 8^th. They were the first B team home.

The C team suffered with late withdrawals still put in a good result with the team of Rob Dickenson, Martin Chester, Paul Berrett and Graham Hogan beating the Woodford and Ilford A teams to come home in 14^th.

Graham Pritchard the first runner of the D team produced the surprise of the day with an outstanding first leg to bring the team home in 12^th after the first leg. The rest of the team comprising of Chris Coates, Tony Collins and Gary Howard couldn’t keep up the initial impetus and the team came home in a gallant 19^th place out of 33 finishers.
