The strong Under 15 girls teams again took pride of
place picking up gold and bronze in the 3 x 800m event and silver
in the 4 x 100m relay. Megan Foley got the 3 x 800m team off to an excellent
start with what turned out to be the team's fastest leg, before Caroline Smith
brought the team in front, and English Schools medallist Sara Luck was never
troubled on the anchor leg. There was superb back up as the B team of Charlotte
Watkins, Robyn Matson and Natalie Adams also got on the medal podium, winning bronze.
Remarkably the club fielded a third team (Vicky Smith, Robyn Delivett and Nicola
Schofield) who finished sixth. Schofield
had earlier been in action in the sprint relay, combining with Cherelle
Westlake, Amy Rogers and Christina Kalejaiye to claim silver, with the B
team of Lynsey Clark, Katie OSullivan, Chelsea Harrison and Emma Bonny also
making the final. |

Silver also went to the Under 13 girls 3 x
800m squad of Lauren Clark,
Georgina Clark and Katie Richardson and also to the U17 trio of Emma Baglin, Amy
Ashwell and Ria Lyons in the same event. The boys fielded weakened teams due to a series of
late withdrawals but nevertheless came away with medals in two events, and just
missed out in others. Their best result came in the U17 4 x 100m when the
quartet of Greg Smith, Matthew Kelsey, Adam Cook and Mark Gardiner won silver,
while the 4 x 400m squad in the same age group (James Deane, Mark Connelly, Greg
Smith and Mark Gardiner) took the bronze medal spot. |
Katie Richardson - U13 3x800m |
The county 3000m championships held in conjunction
with this meeting brought yet more honours for Faye Fullerton who came home in
front to claim gold in the combined senior and junior ladies event to
round off another outstanding season.
