Essex Cross Country League, Stubbers, 13 October 2007  

There was a strong start to the club's Essex Cross Country League campaign when HMAC had two individual wins and four team successes on home territory at Stubbers on Saturday.

 

The Ladies made it a clean sweep with wins in all four categories. 

Eleanor Bounds led the U15 girls to victory, and with Sidnie Sales (4th), Amber Turner (6th) and Rachel Sadler (8th) all in the top eight the team were well in front of the opposition. Sharmila Golan (18th) and  Michelle Lovell (31st) also saw action.

Faye Fullerton opened her winter account to take the senior women's honours with the returning Debbie Appleton fourth with Laurie Cooper (10th) and Denise Harris (20th) ensuring a narrow one point victory over Basildon. Angela Thompson was 51st.

 

The u17/U20 women's team were runaway winners. Georgie Sales & Zoey Littlechild were second & third with Jenny Holland (7th) and Katie Richardson (14th) securing victory. Alex Beard (16th), Emma Fox (18th) and Christina Holland (20th) completed an impressive turn out, as Jade Edwards failed to finish.

 

Becky Stanley was first home in third for the triumphant U13 girls, with Amanda Blaxland 8th and Shannon Sullivan 14th, before Hannah Bloy & Nancy Kane crossed the line together in 16th & 17th. Six other girls completed the course, with Avril Loynes (19th), Jessica Fazakerley (22nd) and Sarah Busby (24th) the best of the rest. 

The U13 boys & U17 Men were runners up.

The U13 boys had Ryan O'Mahoney 7th, Thomas Davis (9th), Tyler Bennett (11th) before Andrew Holland (19th) completed the scoring quartet, and Jordan Da Costa finished 29th.

 

The U17 men packed well with Grant Twist 6th, Callum Sutton 11th, John Whitehead 14th and Thomas Shanney 15th and just got the edge over Southend for second place. There were also good runs from Michael Donovan (16th) and Daniel Shanney (25th)

Jamie Buckley-Stanton's fourth place helped the U15 boys squad place fourth. Liam Bush (17th) and Michael Jones (19th) made the top 20, and Daniel Herold's 27th place completed the scoring quartet.Six other club athletes competed in a good turn out.

 

The senior men, although much depleted by many of theit top athletes away for a training weekend, still had twelve finishers.Rob Warner took over from where he left off last season with a strong run to lead the team home in 9th place. Steve Rand took a very good 16th place in a strong field, followed by Tony Collins 50th Paul Berret 55th and under twenty Rob Jones made a good start in his first senior race in 57th place. Graham Pritchard completed the scoring team in 64th. With vets Graham Foster 78th, Neil Bearwish 79th Panos Kakoallis 88th all finishing in the top one hundred with Roger Winston 105th , our most senior vet  Len Parrot an admirable 118th and Dave Patterson 122nd place.
