Essex Cross Country League, Round 2, Hylands Park, Chelmsford 14 November 2009

Harriet Scott improved on her runners-up spot in round 1 to claim a comfortable victory in the senior ladies event round 2 of the Essex Cross Country League held at wet and windy Hylands Park on Saturday.

Robyn Matson was an excellent fourth and sisters Jo Sullivan & Debbie Appleton crossed the line together in 34th & 35th to bring the senior ladies team home fourth, which was enough to hold on to their league leadership.  Angie Thompson (42nd), Katie Richardson (45th), Jane Hallam (49th) and Linda Smith (62nd) also did well in one of the highest senior women's league turn outs for some time.

Three club teams finished second on the day.

Another great run from Rob Warner saw him lead the senior men’s team home with his 6th place finish. Mat Bland improved on his last outing with a very good 15th just in front of Steve Rand who did well in his first outing of the season in 16th. Neill Collins putting his injury worries behind him ran a very good race to take 41st. Graham Hogan 50th and Paul Berrett 58th made up the scoring team with good performances in the terrible weather. Daniel Shanney in his first senior race found the going hard but did well to take 76th place. Vet Simon Hart in his first race for the squad completed the line up in 97th.

Adam Hill in 9th was first finisher for the U13 Boys Jordan Fox was a much improved 13th and with George Dixon and Fraser Scott occupying the next two places the team were a comfortable second to confirm their share of the top league position. William Hart (20th), Sam Thompson (22nd) and Albert Stokes (31st) ensured a good turn out.

The U17/U20 Women were also second thanks to solid runs from U20s Gemma Phillips (15th) and Jade Edwards (19th) and U17s Patsy McWeeney (21st) and Sharmila Golan (25th). 

Becky Stanley's third place led the U15 Girls team to third place on the day. Shannon Sullivan was a good 12th and Avril Loynes in 23rd and Lindsey Wiggins one place behind ensured third place. Ellie Dixon (27th) also took part.

Massi Dendani (13th) was first across the line for the U17 men. Liam Bush (22nd), Ross Earney (23rd) and Chris Hyde( 26th) finished in close order to earn third place on the day & in the league stakes

Thomas Davis's 11th position was best for the U15 boys who were fourth thanks to runs from Nick Duffey (18th), James Kidd (22nd), and Andrew Holland (31st) as the team are one of four clubs tied for second spot.

The U13 girls had an incomplete team. Only Rebecca Fox (37th) and Thiziri Dendani (41st) braved the elements  to take part
