The disappointment of only five athletes turning out for the senior men was tempered by the final league positions of two of the club's best male athletes. Matt Bland took the Essex League Vets 40 first place with another sound 20th place in the race while Rob Warner's seventh place was his fourth top ten finish of the season, earned the distinction of being the first senior man for many years to finish in the top three in the final league standings. These two were ably assisted by a strong running Jason Lendon in 23rd. followed by the ever-present Neill Collins and Paul Berrett in 38th and 50th respectively. Four of the team competed in every round of the league and minor injuries and illness have not stopped these athletes from giving everything for the club.
Hoseah Gikungu's fifth place for the Under 15 boys also saw him take fifth ranking in the individual league stakes. Nick Shade was 11th and Thomas Davis was 13th but the lack of fourth scorer destroyed any hopes of the league title and the team had to settle for a equal second.
The Under 13 Boys placed second thanks to good packing from Sean Wilson (13th), Adam Hill (17th), Fraser Scott (22nd) and George Dixon (23rd) with five others competing with Charles Hammond 29th, one place ahead of Connor Martin 15:08 and Ryan Pinkney 33rd, Thomas Pitkin 36th and Albert Stokes 37th. The team finished in third in the league stakes, just one point behind Southend.
Gemma Phillips again led home the Under17/Under 20 Women finishing 10th. Rachel Sadler (14th) Sharmila Golan (20th) and Patsy McWeeney (21st) brought the team home third, but it was not quite enough to make the top three in the table.
There was a good turn out from the Under 15 girls with seven finishers led by Becky Stanley in 10th, finishing fifth in the league table, with Bethany Hall just one place back on the day. Amanda Blaxland was 16th and Rosie Brett made the scoring four, and Avril Loynes, Shannon Sullivan and Lindsey Wiggins also saw action.
