Essex Cross Country League, Round 2, Colchester, 30 October 2010

The Senior Men's team continued their great start to the season with another Essex League win at Colchester on Saturday.

Grant Twist placed fourth, in his first cross country of the winter season, backed up by Rob Warner's strong-running 11th. Jamie Buckley-Stanton's continued his impressive start with a very good 16th, Mat Bland's improved outing in 20th, Jason Lendon close behind in 31st and Neill Collins' sound run in 45th completed the scoring six to earn a comfortable second win in succession.  They were ably supported by Ian Anthony in a good 56th and Graham Hogan in 66th with a trio of vets completing the squad with Dave Hallam 103rd Russ Middleton 107th and Gary Howard 116th.

In the Senior Women's race Lauren Deadman opened her winter season with a fine second place. Essex University student Jade Edwards was a good 28th, while vets Angie Thompson in 51st and an improved Jane Hallam two places back completed the quartet who placed fifth, three places better than round one.

Lydia Hallam's fine form continued as she was third for the U15 girls. There was close packing from Francesca Smith (13th), Lindsay McLachlan (15th) and Isabella Woods one place back as the team again bagged a great second spot. Also in squad action were Avril Loynes in 23rd and 32nd placed Lindsey Wiggins.

Sarah Wilson's fifth and Heidi Surman-Wells eighth were highest placed or the U13 girls as Abigail Spink (26th) and Amy Baggs (30th) completed the fourth placed scorers, while newcomer Emily Marshall's non-scoring 27th place would have made the scorers. Three other U13s - Lauren Earl (32nd), Megan Ruffell (40th) and 46th placed Annie McGuire also completed the course.

Becky Stanley in seventh led the U17/U20 women home. Bethaney Hall was 14th in her first run of the winter and Patsy McWeeney (20th) and Sharmila Golan (22nd) were the other scorers with Shannon Sullivan (23rd) just behind.

There was a top 10 finish for U13 boys' Sean Wilson in eighth and good runs from Fraser Scott (11th), Robert Woodgate (15th) and 17th placed Ryan Green secured another great second place. Half a dozen other U13s were in action with debutant James Giordmaina (26th) ahead of 28th position Nick Wade and 30th placer Thomas Pitkin. Non scorer Aaron Westwood was 35th, Mason MakRabie (40th) and Josh Stevens (46th).

For the U15 Boys Nick Shade also made it into the top 10. Third place in the team stakes came courtesy of 21st placings from Andrew Holland, 22nd from James Kidd 13:14 and Nick Duffey's 24th, while Adam Hill was 35th.

The depleted U17 Men were led home by Massi Dendani in 23rd and the other three scorers Tom Brown, Ross Earney and Chris Hyde were in close order between 27th and 30th as the team were fourth.
