Essex Schools Championships - Chelmsford Saturday 13th June 2008  

There were medals galore from club athletes competing in borough colours at Saturday's Essex Schools' Championships at Chelmsford.

Jack Edgar-Hill and Kike Oniwinde both set club records in winning gold in their events. Jack smashed the club U17 100m Hurdles record set back in 1992 – the year before he was born – with his 13.50 heat clocking and won gold by a large margin with 13.68s into a strong headwind. Kike Oniwinde her own record, set last year, in going beyond 42m for the first time to win the Intermediate javelin. Other gold medal performances came from Katherine Knight (Inter DT), Danny Wilson (Junior DT) Ellie Bounds (Inter Girls 800m), Bradley Burr (Inter JT) and Freddy Keefe (Y7 - 800m).

Silvers went to Jamie Buckley Stanton (Inter 1500m - PB), Holly Thomas (Inter 80mH), Rylie Trott (Junior 75mH PB), Deb Knight - (junior JT),  Annie Adewole (Junior Shot PB), Laurence Goodacre (Inter SP), Alex Law (Y7 - 75mH), Nathan Jackson (Y7 - 100m), Harvey Ransome (Y& LJ)and Bronze - Ryan O'Mahoney (Junior 1500m), Shelley Wilson (Inter DT - PB). 

Athletes now wait to hear if they have been selected for the Essex team for the Nationals Schools Championships at Sheffield on 11 & 12 July
