Essex Schools Championships - Chelmsford Saturday 12th June 2010  

Club athletes won at least six gold medals and several other podium places at Saturday's Essex Schools Champs at Chelmsford. 

Three gold medals came by virtue of the hurdles events as Holly Thomas (Inter Girls - 80mH), Josh Olawore (Inter Boys 100m H) and Jake Nelson (Inter boys 400mH) all set new career bests on the way to victories.

Another golden hat-trick came in the throwing events as Debbie Knight (Inter Girls javelin), Georgie Taylor (Junior girls discus )and Rachel Forder (junior girls shot) bagged coveted first places.

Two silver medals were earned as Billy Bilton (JB javelin) and and Bethany Chambers (JG 200m) improved their best performances in placing second.

Four other bronze medal podium places went to Danny Wilson (IB discus), Sophie Baggs (IG discus), Alex Law (JB long jump) and Lydia Hallam (800 JG bronze).

These and other athletes await the outcome of the Essex selectors' meeting on Sunday to pick the team for the English Schools Championships at Birmingham on 10/11 July.
