Essex Young Athletes Road Relay Championships Colchester, 18 October 2009

There was a great haul of medals as club youngsters claimed four silvers and a bronze at today's Essex Road Relays at Colchester. 

The u13 Boys started the ball rolling as Charles Hammond (10:15), James Wright (10:34) and Freddy Keefe (9:10 - second fastest of day) took silver.

Excellent runs by Ryan O'Mahoney (8:44), Josh Conners (8:58), and Hoseah Gikingu's outstanding anchor of 8:21 confirmed another silver for the Under 15 Boys Thomas Davis (9:09) and Nick Shade (8:55) were one man short for the B team.

The U17 Men made it a hat-trick of silvers for male teams. Jamie Buckley-Stanton's fine opening leg of 7:51 proved to be the second fastest on the day and Joseph Waked (8:15 despite a severe stitch) and Adam Edwards (8:18) saw the team a stride off victory.  The B team of Dean Leftley (8:38), Chris Hyde (9:24) and Massi Dendani (8:31) were eighth

The U15 girls also added to the silver tally thanks to Avril Loynes, who was seventh on the opening leg, Amanda Blaxland, who made up four places to hand over to Becky Stanley whose storming last leg improve the trio to silver slot.

Lydia Hallam's excellent opener set the U13 girls trio up for a podium place and Abigail Spink & Amy Baggs made sure with a bronze medal finish.
