A short-handed combined men’s
and women’s team took part in the cup semi-final at Hendon on Sunday. With
only one team progressing to next month's final there was limited incentive to
field a full squad, and the men’s side registered a token presence.
The women gave a good performance
with victories from Kate Brewington in the long jump and late replacement Claire
Brennan in the 100m hurdles. There was a strong display in the field events as
Danielle Ross placed second in the pole vault, as did Lynsey Clark in the triple
jump with a new PB, albeit wind assisted. Mel Harrison tackled three throwing
events, with top three finishes in each.
Just half a dozen men made the trip
with Matt Bland placing third in a competitive 10,000m race in a new PB, while
Dan Gamester was hammer runners up. Junior Luke Stott tackled four events.
