Havering AC Championships - Hornchurch

One hundred and fifty club athletes brought the curtain down on a successful track and field season in a high quality club championships at Hornchurch on Sunday which saw two club records and thirteen other performances ranked in the club all-time top 10s.

The warm and sunny conditions favoured the throwers who responded in magnificent style. Adelaide Thatcher-Gray added over two metres to her club Under 17 best with the 500gm implement with her first 40m+ throw (40.42m), and she also threw the senior 600gm spear 36.49m, the eighth longest ever by a club female. Max Law’s monster 73.05m throw with the Under 17 javelin was the longest ever at the stadium, and Max also threw the senior javelin an impressive 64.38m – the third longest ever by a club athlete as he moves up into the Under 20 age group with confidence. More good javelin results came from Philippa Gill whose 30.42m throw moved her up to 13th on the club all-time list, Charlie Savill who moved into the club Under 17 top 10 with his 50.28m throw, Maddie Georgiou whose.25.65m effort was sixth best by a club Under 15, and Joel Hutton who entered the Under 13 javelin top 10 rankings with a 28.16m throw.

Also on the field Katie Ennis’s 30.58m discus mark was the third best by an under 13 in the UK this summer and third longest ever by a club athlete, Isabella Uzal’s shot PB of 8.79m was seventh best by a club Under 13, the multi-talented Stephanie Okoro won the Under 13 long jump with a leap of 4.83m – third in the club all-time list and eight best nationally this year - while Paris King’s 4.57m PB also took her into the club all-time top 10. CJ Nze on his debut triple jumped 12.04m to reach the club all-time Under 15 top 10, while Claire Brenna’s 10.03m leap improved her club Masters record and ranked her fifth nationally in the age group.

Fast times on the track events were affected by the breeze but Jacob Blanc improved his Under 15 hurdles best to 11.7s, the seventh fastest club Under 15, and Ruby Higgins improved her 1500m PB to 5m 02.5s for seventh on the club all-time Under 13 rankings in her first season at the club.
