Faye Fullerton's fabulous fourth in Saturday's Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Nottingham has earned her selection for World Championships. And Alexa Joel and Lauren Deadman again joined her on the podium as the Essex team won silver. Faye was in contention throughout the televised 8km event at the Wollaton Park venue. With just over 5km gone she moved into one of the top three qualifying places when she followed the decisive break by Essex team mate Jo Wilkinson and eventual winner Laura Kenney. But with 2km left she was overhauled for the automatic selection place by Southern champion Rachel Townend and despite battling to the end had to settle for fourth. Alexa Joel again confirmed her class as she placed 14th in 28:59 - one place better than in the recent Nationals and Lauren Deadman also went one better with her 42nd place finish in 30:31 for fourth Essex scorer. But with team medals based on six to score Essex were beaten to gold by the Yorkshire team. Robyn Matson was 128th. Faye looked likely to miss out on selection as a number of absent international had indicated their availability for selection but today (Sunday) she received the selectors' call and will again line up in a GB Vest at the World Champs at Edinburgh on March 30th. Ellie Bounds was 23rd (15:48) in the U15 girls race with Sidnie Sales 88th (16:42). Grant Twist placed 33rd in the U17 men's event but Georgie Sales failed to finish in the girls' equivalent. Ross Clarke was a respectable 71st (40:27) and second Essex scorer in his first senior Championships, while in the U13 Girls Becky Stanley (14:46) and Amanda Blaxland (15:26) were 113th and 196th respectively.
