British Athletics League - Gold Cup Semi-Final – Haringey - Sunday 10 June 2001

Havering Mayesbrook’s Senior Men are still suffering from depleted numbers. Illness, injury, exams and work commitments continue to make it impossible to field a strong team.

The semi-final line up with five Clubs from the top 2 divisions of the British Athletics League presented an impossible task to qualify. With an important League match in a few weeks any athlete carrying an injury missed the match. But although finishing in the bottom two it gave an opportunity for some good performances, despite the cold, wet and windy conditions.

Under-17 Steven Prady moved up to Senior athletics jumping 1.85 to place 4^th in the high jump. Danny Gamester competed for the first time this season, finishing 6^th in the Hammer with 42.91m being his best in a series of throws all over 41m. A number of athletes recorded personal bests, Matt Bland ran 34:55.6, to finish 5^th in the 10,000m, Gavin Maley placed 3^rd in 1500m with 3:56.6 and Sam Harrison threw 48.79m to come 6^th in the Javelin.

Rob Dickenson ran the 800m finishing 8^th in 2:00.7 and Shaun Stewart long jumped 6.23 for season bests, Shaun also competed in the 100m – 6^th in 11.5 and the 200m – 7^th in 23.3.

Graham Pritchard took on the 5,000m race finishing 5^th in 16:43.3 and Rob Warner came 8^th in the 3,000m Steeplechase recording a time of 10:58.3.
