Third place in the final National Junior League fixture ensured a runners-up spot in the league and put the team on course for an invitation to the promotion match for the Premier Division on 2nd September at Lee Valley. Nicola Hill returned to club colours less than 24 hours after her return from GB action in Serbia and won both events and won the female athlete of the match award for her hurdles double. Becky Quinlan (2nd claim) proved a worthy addition to the squad with wins in the A triple jump and B 100m hurdles plus a 40m hurdles runners up spot, while the other second claim member Jess Tappin won the B high jump and added points in 100, 200m and shot. Emma Christmas won the javelin in her final appearance in this league. Runners up spots went to Bethan Siddons (High jump & B triple jump), the 800m pairing of Robyn Matson and Georgie Sales, who also added second in the B javelin and third in the 1500m, with Vicky Smith second in the B. Angela Jams was third in the B long jump and Lauren Clark added a hat trick of fourth places in 200, 400m and discus, as did Jade Edwards (400m, hammer & shot). Anthony Williams returned from injury with a double win, taking the A 110m hurdles and B long jump, and was also second in the B triple jump. Bonne Buwembo and Georgie Bean cleaned up in the javelin, with Georgie adding three metres to his PB to go fifth on the club all time senior list. Another U17, Bradley Reece won the B discus, and was runner up in both A hammer & B shot. Vince Lazaro placed second in the long jump, and set a triple jump PB and placed in the 100m. Rob Jones was second in the steeplechase, while Paul Adair’s 400m & 200m PBs gained him 3rd & 5th respectively, with Joseph Ramie also setting PBs in both sprints. Jay Ryan was third in both high jump and shot, the latter a new PB, and Craig More also claimed two thirds in B high jump & discus A. Adam McCarthy was third in the 400m hurdles on his league debut and Kieran Nelson set a PB in the B race. Josh Dunne complete the line up in the B 800m |
