There was a disappointing end to the National Junior League season as a ?fourth / fifth? place finish by a depleted squad at Peterborough on Sunday ruined any hops of making the promotion final
For the men Jimi Tele provided good points with a narrow triple jump victory and a second placed personal best in the 100m, but he came unstuck in the long jump with run-up problems. Hoseah Gikungu was a run-away winner of the 1500m kicking clear after a sedate opening lap to come close to his best.
Emmanuel Quarshie was runner up in the shot & scored in discus & hammer and Adam Wileman picked up points in both the 110m and 400m hurdles and the long jump. Jamie Buckley-Stanton was fourth in the 800m while Jack Edgar-Hill added fifth placed points in both sprints and the high jump, and Glenn Wileman was third in the B triple jump.
There were just three ladies. Gemma Phillips was a good winner of the 1500m and had earlier placed second in the 3000m and picked up points in three other events including second in the B shot. Katherine Knight covered the throws scoring second and third placed points, while Ellie Watson similarly scored in the jumps and 100m hurdles in which she finished second.
