National
Young Athletes’ League, Southern Premier Division, Bournemouth 1st June 2003
Havering’s
young athletes travelled to Bournemouth with a depleted team and after an early
start and a long day's competition returned home thinking they had ended up back
in third. But on Monday came the fantastic news that they recorders had
made a muddle of the scoring and the team had actually finished first place
overall with a total points score of 356, Bournemouth were in 2nd
with 307 and Herne Hill in 3rd with 302. Milton Keynes were 4th.
Outstanding
performances were provided in the U/17 women’s events by Christina Kalejaiye
with wins in the 100m, 200m, long jump and 4x100m relay and Chloe Van Wulven in
the high jump and 80mh.
In the under
15 girls Louise yard had brilliant performances in all three throws winning her
events and obtaining a PB of 10.65 in the shot.
In the boys competition Ashley Reece had a spectacular run in the 3000m
producing a new club record in a PB of 9m 26.8 and lapping the whole field.
Matthew Jones produced PBs in the 100m, 200m and 80m hurdles. There were also
high jump PB for Nat Senior and a hurdles PB for Anthony Williams.
The under
13’s outstanding newcomer Matt Bloy ran his first ever 1500m to win overall in
4m 56 and produced a PB in the 100m of 14.2. Grant Twist finished 2nd
in the A string 1500m with a new PB of 5.05.6. Bradley Reece won the shot putt
beating his previous PB with a throw of 7.58.
In the girls
sprinter Lilla Jacks produced two PBs winning the 75m in 10.9s and 3rd
in the 150m with 21.8s.
