Warm conditions and favourable winds resulted in a glut of PBs and three club records in the fourth round NYAL fixture at Mayesbrook on Sunday.

Chloe van Wulven set the scene in the first event by making the u17w 300m hurdles record her own in 45.4s, before Eugene Ayanful ran 11.2s for a new u15 boys 100m record behind English schools champion and Athlete of the match James Alaka. Ashley Reece missed out on a sub 9m clocking for u17M 3000m when he eased across the line and equalled the record at 9:00.2s.

The u15 boys turned in a good performance, finishing just three points adrift of Blackheath & Bromley. There was a clean sweep in the middle distance events as A&B string doubles went to Matt Bloy & Paul Adair (800m), Joe Webster & Chris MacLachlan (1500m) and Brad Tungatt & Steve MacLachlan (3000m). Adair took the A 400m honours also. Not surprisingly both relay teams dominated their events. There were further victories for English schools medallist Bonne Buwembo in the javelin, and Ben Warden in the discus.

Ashley Reece's new 3000m PB and club-record equalling victory was one of many fine results for the u17 boys. David /Nefs was a double winner with first place points in both 800m A and 400m B, with Mike Waller completing the one-lap double with A string success. Other track wins were gained by versatile Jay Ryan in the B steeplechase and Richard Demko in the B 100m hurdles. Ryan also set PBs in the pole vault and 400m hurdles. The club's jumpers came up trumps as Anthony Williams won both high jump and long jump B strings, the latter in another PB, to add to his new 100m hurdles landmark. His high jump partner Michael Jenkins set a new PB in winning the A string, while Carl Patten and James Coppeard were jumping for joy at their triple jump double. Alex van Ristell's B discus victory completed the field events successes.

The u13 boys put up a good display to place second with Harrison Ellis taking the bows with a shot and long jump double.

In the u17 girls events Chloe van Wulven's 300m record was only good enough for second as English Schools' fifth placer Clare Leckie proved too strong but Chloe made amends with a 80m hurdles/high jump double win. Her hurdles B string partner Lisa Schofield made it a successful day with PBs in both 300m and 80m hurdles events. Robyn Matson was a comfortable 3000m victor, and Vicky Smith ran well to win the 800m B while middle distance specialist added a string to her bow with a B long jump victory and a 300m PB. Emma Christmas continues to improve and again bettered her javelin PB to 31.34m, to move ever closer to Mel Harrison's club record.

The u15 girls notched up five wins. Clare Robinson came through in the latter stages for 1500m victory, as Hayley Thomas held on for B string top honors, while Charlotte Humphreys powered to a win in the B 800. Frankie Calder was in impressive form. She was pipped at the post in the 100m, in which she set a legal PB of 12.6s, but made no mistake in the longer sprint as she was a clear 200m winner. Nicola Hill won the B discus, and also equalled her 75m hurdles PB, while Catrina McAuliffe improved her best mark in the B hurdles.

In the youngest age category the u13 girls the improving Georgia Davies slashed four seconds off her 1200m PB to snatch a narrow victory.

Overall the boys were second and the girls were third, with the combined team comfortably beating Woodford for second as Blackheath & Bromley piled on the points.
