A good second place finish in the final fixture at Basingstoke on Sunday secured another season in the Southern Premier League for the Havering Mayesbrook National Young Athletes League squad. The boys’ squad won overall with the U17 Men winning their age group and the U15s and U13s both second. An impressive series of field events performance saw the U17 Men win six of the seven A String events contested and adding three B successes. Bradley Reece was in fine form with A hammer & discus wins and a B shot victory. With Emmanuel Quarshie winning the A shot. Georgie Bean and Jordan Jackson doubled up for javelin full points, and Jackson added the B discus for good measure. Joseph Ramie was close to his best with a long jump & triple jump A double. Further track wins added to the boys dominance, with Daniel Winters winning the 9800m A and hurdles B, and Kieran Nelson taking the 400m Hurdles and Grant Twist the steeplechase. Jimi Tele’s long jump PB brought an A string win for the U15 boys with Terry Hughes winning the B, and also taking B 100m full points. Adam Samuel was another B track winner, talking the 400m B. English Schools medallist Bradley Burr found a modest throw enough for javelin victory and Lewis Williams was the B hammer victor. Ryan O’Mahoney was the winner of the U13 boys 800m A, and Danny Wilson ‘s B hurdles success was the only other track win in this age group. Ryan Blake & Fred Mokoso doubled up for long jump victory, and they were joined by Ryan O’Mahoney & Daniel Wood to seal the relay success. A weakened U17 women’s team placed second. Bethan Siddons took both high jump & triple jump, and her B string partners, Becky Luck &TJ) and Angela James (HJ) took the B strings in these events. Amy Cox won the hammer in a new PB and Becky Owen won the B 80m hurdles. The throws were again the highlights for the U15 girls with doubles in shot, discus & javelin. English Schools Champion Kike Oniwinde now only won in her javelin speciality but also took the A shot. Sam Hill supported her with a B shot win and also won the A discus, while Sidnie Sales was the B javelin winner. Sophie Baggs’ B discus win and Nicole Dalton’s B long jump success completed the field day. Sacha Martin’s hat trick of win’s stood out in the U13 girls competition, winning 75m, long & high jump. Chelsey Walkers B string wins supported her in 75m and long jump, and Jessica Fazakerley was equal first in the high jump.
