The National Young Athletes Team regained their Premiership status at the first time of asking but had to concede the Southern Division 1 East title when they lost by just four points to hosts Herne Hill at Battersea on Sunday. It was a cruel blow as the athletes did everything they could, winning the match on the day by six points, but losing out overall as HMAC did not receive their full quota of officials' points as they were one timekeeper & track judge short of a full complement. On a day of many fine performances it was arguably Alex Law who provide the stand out results with a winning hat-trick of PBs in the Under 13 Boys 75m Hurdles (club record), 100m (12.8s) and shot (8.89m) - both sixth best ever by a club U13. His U13 team mates again excelled. Nathan Jackson added another win treble in100m B, 200m A & shot – all PBs, Harvey Ransome won long jump A & 200m B and Jordan Fox also scored a double win in long & high jumps A strings. Charles Hammond won the B high jump to make it maximum points on the field. The U17 Women also produced a powerful display with a dozen victories. There was a clean sweep in the hurdles as Holly Tomas & Nicola Peachey won both 80m races & Peachey again and Jess Seekings won both 300m hurdles strings. Jess also won the B 300m flat. The horizontal jumps produced a full house as Kelly Jarrold & Kike Oniwinde won triple jump A & B and Jarrold again and Thomas won both long jump competitions. Kike won her javelin speciality and Shelley Wilson made it a B string double with discus & hammer victories. Ellie Bounds won the 1500m and Rachel Sadler the 800m B. Deborah Knight starred for the Under 15 Girls. She threw the javelin beyond 30m for the first time for victory, also improved her 75m hurdles PB in winning the B event and took B 200m honours for good measure. Her hurdles partner Rylie Trott was a comfortable winner of the A race and javelin teammate Laura Drew won the B. Deborah joined with Ricarda Chapman, Lucy Allen and Annie Adewole for relay victory. The U17 Men faced strong opposition from the hosts. Jack Edgar-Hill beat English Schools finalist Blade Ashby to win the 100m Hurdles event and Jake Nelson smashed his PB in winning the 400m hurdles. Jack a also equalled his high jump PB in winning the B. Laurence Goodacre had a double win in shot & discus and B string field victories went to Massi Dendani (hammer) and Jordan Brown (javelin). Dean Leftley won the B 1500m There were six individual wins and a relay success for the Under 15 Boys. Tom Davis provided the only track A win in the 1500m with Nick Duffey claiming victory in the 800m B race. Lee Jarrold equalled his PB to earn a share of the high jump spoils and also won the B javelin, while Dan Wilson and Ben Thompson won both discus strings. The 4x400m relay quartet of Fred Mokoso, Tyler Bennett, Josh Conners and Finbar Smyth were victorious. Tomi Akingbade was the fastest sprinter on show in the Under 13 Girls age group winning both 75m and 150m, Rebecca Christmas (1200m B) and Georgie Taylor (High jump B) also won their strings. The contest for the league title between the only unbeaten teams went right down to the wire but at the end of the day when the points were tallied it was Herne Hill who were crowned divisional champions and HMAC had to settle for a runner sup spot and a rapid return to the Southern Premier Division in 2010.
