National Young Athletes Road Relays, Sutton Coldfield, Sunday 3 April 2005

With several boys missing due to Holidays, illness and competing for England Schools in the Home International the day before, Havering where unable to match last years results.

U13 boys:

Simon Brown struggled on the first leg with a knee injury and limped home in 70th place. John Whitehead in only his 2nd race for the club stormed through the field to pick up 24 places on lap 2, with Luke Jones picking up a further 6 places to bring the team home in 40th place.

U15 boys:

Chris McLachlan found the going tough on the first lap to bring the A team home in 44th place, followed by his brother Steve in 61st for the B team,  still feeling the effects of a tough International debut the day before in North Wales. On the 2nd lap Matt Watkins ran the teams fastest lap to pull the A team up to 21st place. Scott Tungatt showing he is back to his best also stormed through to bring the B team up to 36th. On the last lap Grant Twist continued the A teams progress bring them home in an excellent 18th followed by Daniel Winters bringing the B team home in 34th.

Our U15 Boys team picked up the 1st B Team award. This was an excellent achievement against some tough completion for the team of Steve McLachlan, Scott Tungatt and Daniel Winters (Scott picked up 25 places and then Daniel overtook the leading B team on the last lap).
