Reebok London Challenge - including European XC Trials Parliament Hill - 20 November 2004

Fantastic Faye Fullerton showed her class with a superb fifth place in the Reebok London Challenge at cold and blustery Parliament Hill on Saturday.  The race served as the trials for the European Championships in Heringsdorf, Germany on Sunday 12 December and, although outside the top three automatic qualifying places,  Faye's superb result has earned her selection for the six-strong team. She finished behind top UK cross country runner Hayley Yelling, who finished in 16:47, 18 seconds clear of seasoned international Helen Clitheroe, with former Aussie Natalie Harvey, UK qualified since last March, taking bronze in 17:10. Faye's fifth place finish in 17:19 was the closest she's been to the big names, and not far adrift from fancied Charlotte Dale in fourth.

Club captain Debbie Sullivan/Appleton ran well for 24th in the same race, and Nikki Barnett (107th), Ellie Mole (155th) and Linda Smith (161st) also flew the flag.

Katie Richardson's fine form continued as she finished 7th in the u17 event women's event, again finishing ahead of Woodford rival Jess Sparke. She was joined by Robyn Matson who placed 38th. Ross Clarke opened his winter account with a good 19th in the boys' equivalent in which he was the only club representative.

Another sole club entrant was Matt Bloy who was 22nd in the u15 boys' race.  Ingrid Deane (45th) and Hayley Thomas (50th) both made the top 50 in the u15 girls, in which Rachel Kerr also ran.

Rob Warner (146th) and Mike Munson (294th) also took part in the senior men's event.
