A short-handed Havering senior Southern League team suffered a surprise defeat to bottom of the table Thurrock, who made the best of home advantage.

The ladies team won 18 events and both relays, but lost points with gaps in five events. Under 17 Jade Kavanagh once again had a hat trick of wins in both sprints and long jump and also anchored the sprint relay team to victory. Flic Clarke also notched up three wins taking the 400m hurdles A and wins in B string 100m hurdles and 200m. Her hurdles partners Claire Brennan (400m hurdles B) and Chloe Williams (100m hurdles A) also won and added full points in their other events  pole vault Claire & B high jump Chloe.

Chloe, Flic & debutant Omesiri Akpotor joined Jade in the winning sprint relay quartet and Claire & Flic were joined by Nina Brennan and Georgia Philips in the winning 4x400m squad.  Bethan Siddons had a win double in the high jump & triple jumps, and Emma Christmas completed the individual victory roll in winning the javelin.

The men’s team recorded nine individual wins and 13 runners up spots, including both relays. Duane Jibunoh won both the discus and javelin and was second in the shot, with veteran Arron Bonning adding maximum points in both javelin & discus, and was vault runner up.

There were good points in the sprints as Lewis Bailey and Elliott Addison won A  & B 200m races, and Lewis and Ben Gad were 100m runners up. Alex McCree won the B 400m. Matthew, Elliott, Alex & Lewis were sprint relay runners up, while Matthew & Alex were joined by James Stewart & Kieran Riddell in the second placed 4x400m quartet.

Rob Warner was untroubled in winning the 'chase, Finn Hutton won the 800m with Lewis Debenham second in the B while Karl Tucker was high jump and sprint hurdles runner up.

With only the fifth and final fixture a Battersea on 19th August to come the club seem to have missed out on a chance of placing on one of the top two promotion slots and will enjoy another season in Division 2
