After winning their home fixture last month the Southern League squad came down to earth with another third place finish at Croydon on Saturday.

Flic Clarke's season's best took the 400m hurdles, and she returned to win the sprint hurdles.  Claire Brennan won the B sprint hurdles as well as A vault and B high jump, and was B 400m hurdles runners up. Ginte Bailey's solo 5000m win added another track victory and Amy Kilner (400m) & Georgia Phillips (1500m) also added full track points in their B string events.

Jade Kavanagh added a long jump victory to 200m runners up, and Philippa Gill was second in both the shot and javelin, as was Keturah Christie in the high jump. Nina Brennan added second in the B vault to points in the 400m, hammer & discus and Rachel Kerr's B discus second was backed up by points in the javelin and both sprints.

Tomi Sanwo was third in the triple jump and shot, as was Sophie Rand (1500m), Jessica James 800m B, with Clare Davies fourth in the A.

Nina, Geirgia, Amny &Sophie combined to place second in the 4x400m realy.

The men's squad recorded just four victories. Grant Twist won the chase, with Rob Warner making it full points in the B and Grant's 800m career best earned second place in the A race, as Kieran O'Hara impressed with a huge PB to win the 800m B.

Under 17 Richard Akinyebo won the high jump B and 100m B and was second in the 200m, as Lewis Bailey was runner up in both A sprints. Another Under 17 Ben Olusesan was second in the triple jump, as was U17 Aaron Freshwater in the B, both adding other jumps points. Somto Okpalauko improved his best in the 400m, and also scored in the long jump.

The sprint relay squad of Lewis, Richard, Karl and Ben Gad edged out Harrow and the hosts for victory.

Under 20s Sam Atkins (A - third) and James Stewart (B - second) scored well in the 1500m, and the 3000m pairing of Robbie Cooman and Steve Rand were both third. Veteran Arron Bonning as usual scored well in the vault and throws, as did M65 Keith Robinson and Under 23 Ed Brinton-Quinn, while Karl Tucker (sprint hurdles & vault) added vital points.

The squad end their season at St Albans on 18th August and a mid-table placing looks likely.
