Havering’s Southern League squad ended their season in style at Woodford on Saturday with a big win in their highest score of the season but just missed out on promotion so will again compete in the second tier next summer.
The men's team ran riot with 20 individual wins and victories in both relays. There were full points in the sprints as Lewis Bailey won both the 100m & 200m, the latter in a career best, with Akeem Akintokun and Joseph Ramie winning both B strings, while Matthew Agnimel & Fraser Boston won both 400m strings. Good points came over the barriers as Rob Warner & Sam Atkins won A & B chase and Adam McCarthy the 400m hurdles with club legend Mark Bishop returning to action to win the B event in a new club M50 best - Bishop also covered gaps in four other events.
Shandell Taylor won the high jump, with the fourth best by a club male, with Aaron Freshwater winning the B, and also won the B long jump & javelin, as Joe Ramie & Oliver Woods took the A string honours. Vaulters Reeve Debenham and Stuart Tufton come up trumps with wins in both strings and Success Ariyibi added victory in the A triple jump.
Finn Hutton won the 800m A as Grant Twist's season's best was A string runner-up with James Stewart & Louis Berrett (PB) second in the 1500m, as was James Connor in the 5000m. Injured hurdler Karl Tucker covered gaps in the throws, and Gavin Watts completed the men's line up in the 5000m.
Lewis, Fraser, Shandell, Lewis & Joseph were victorious in the sprint relay before Matthew, Reece Harriott, Fraser & Adam came home well clear in the 4x400m event.
The ladies also scored well with 16 victories. Claire Brennan bagged three in both hurdles and the pole vault, and was also second in the high jump, and Philippa Gill won shot, hammer and javelin, the latter in a new career best. Ellie Watson claimed three B event wins in the high jump, triple jump and 400m hurdle and second in the jumps and U17 Alice Atkins won the B discus and sprint hurdles events.
There were track wins for the 200m pair of jade Kavanagh & Mali Grant, with Jade also second in the 400m and Morgan Campbell’s 1500m PB brought her victory. Nina Brennan won the B vault and was second in the 400m B, and A discus, while Tomi Sanwo won the triple jump and was B 100m runner up. Hannah Connor returned to club colours with second in the B hammer and scored points in the B 3000m.
.Also in action were Aisha Marenah (100m), Molly Sweetman & Morgan Romain (800m), Tracy O’Neill (B 1500m) Sophie Rand (A 3000m) and Rachel Kerr (shot & discus).
Claire, Nina and Sophie were joined by Jade in the second placed 4x400m quartet.
