Two silvers, one bronze was the medal tally from HMAC U17 athletes at this weekend's South of England age group championships, held at Ashford. Holly Thomas (U17W) and Jack Edgar-Hill (U17m) both won hurdles silvers in personal best times. Holly smashed her previous best for 80m Hurdles in winning her heat in a win aided 11.67s and repeated the time when claiming runners up spot in the final - this time with the wind within the allowable limit. Jack Edgar-Hill broke the 14 secs barrier for the first time in style when placing second in the 100n Hurdles clocking 13.50s - but was denied a club record due to wind assistance. Kike Oniwinde threw a season's best of 40.51m when winning bronze in the U17W javelin. Discus throwers Danny Wilson (U15 boys) and Sophie Baggs (U17W) both spun the discus out to new career bests but finished out of the medals. Wilson’s 37.95m throw was the fourth longest by a club u17 and placed him fourth while Sophie’s 31.49m effort placed sixth. Jamie Buckley-Stanton’s 1500m PB fell short of a u17 1500m final place Ashley Purnell set 100m & long jump PBs in the U15 competitions, finishing fourth in the latter, while Henrietta Adewole was fourth with a new PB in the U15 girls’ shot.
