South of England U15 & U17 Champs, Ashford

Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th May 2010

Two bronze medals were the total pickings as   HMAC Under 15 and Under 17 athletes at this weekend's South of England age group championships, held at Ashford. Kent.

Georgie Taylor battled against Saturday's windy conditions to claim discus bronze with her 30.77m effort in the Under 15 Girls competition. And on Sunday previously topped-ranked Holly Thomas was disappointed to win bronze in the Under 17 Women's 80m Hurdles with 11.76s after a poor start left her out of contention early on.

In the Under 15 Boys long jump Alex Law improved his best to 5.56m but finished outside the medals in fourth. Another athlete to set new personal marks and place fourth was Josh Olawore who ran faster than previously in both heat and final of the Under17 Men's 100m hurdles.

Ashley Purnell leapt beyond 6m for the first time , aided by the following wind, to be measured at 6.18m to place fifth in the U17 long jump and Danny Wilson was outside his best when placing seventh in the discus in the same age group.
