South of England U20 & Senior Champs, Watford

Sat 12th & Sun 13th June 2010

A gold, three silvers and a bronze were the medal tally from this weekend's South of England Under 20 and Senior Championships, held at Crystal Palace.

Sara Luck successfully defended her senior 2000m steeplechase crown with victory in a new club record of 6m 48.20s, the fifth fastest clocking in Britain this summer.

Another club record to go came not unexpectedly in the U20 Men's 400m where Richard Morrissey easily erased Kevin Lidlow's 30 year old mark with his silver-medal winning effort of 48.35s. It took the 19-year-old to fourth on the club's all-time rankings.

Isaac Ogunlade battled the strong head winds to win silver in the U20 men 110m hurdles event and also placed fifth in the 400m hurdles event with a season's best.  Jack Edgar-Hill made the final of the 110m hurdles finishing sixth.

Emmanuel Quarshie was a fine third in the U20 Men's shot and Kike Oniwinde returned to form with a season's best of 44.00m to win U20 javelin silver.

Joseph Ramie bounced back to form to break the 7m barrier for the first time in the senior men's long jump, placing him sixth. It was the sixth longest ever leap by a club athlete.

Other top 8 finishes came from Felicity Clarke, seventh in the U20 400m hurdles, Bradley Burr & Georgie Bean, fifth and seventh in the U20 javelin.
