SOUTHERN LEAGUE MEN
Men's Southern League Division 3, Bracknell 17 May

At
a very wet and windy Bracknell on Saturday, Havering Mayesbrook AC’s Southern
Men’s League team found the lack
of strength in depth too much of a handicap and were only able to finish 4th
in their second match of the season.
Nonetheless,
there were some fine performances, non better
than the ‘A’ and ‘B’ string double success of Martin Heys and
Neill Collins in the 800m. The sprinters were also in good form with Simon
Parker and Jonathan Buckler each gaining a victory and a second place in the
100m and 200m events.
Heys
followed up his earlier success with second place in the 400m with Collins
taking 3rd in the ‘B’ race.
Multi-eventers
Kevin White and Andrew Tierney saw plenty of action during the afternoon with
White contributing valuable points in the Discus (a new personal best), 100m and
400m Hurdles, Shot, Javelin and Hammer whilst Tierney did likewise in all four
throwing events and the High Jump.
At
the end of the afternoon, the relay squads performed well with victory in the 4
x 100m (Parker, Buckler, Heys and White) and second place in the 4 x 400m (the
same quartet except Chris Hall for White).
