A spate of absences cost the Southern Men's League Division 1
squad their second victory of the season at Abingdon on Saturday. They lost
out in the final tally by three points to Serpentine.
But there were some fine results which will assist the club's play-off chances when a "paper match" decides places in the end of season restructuring of the leagues. A strong following wind helped our sprinters and jumpers to achieve a number of PBs. Luke Stott running 10.7 for the 100m and 21.8 for the 200m while Joe Ramie added half a metre to his long jump PB with a massive 6.95m jump and later jumped a further PB of 13.86m in the triple jump for a win double. Paul Adair returned to action after injury and new recruit Charlie Moss - who is eligible to run from the club from 1 July - ran PBs in guest appearances both the 100m (11.0) and the 200m. Matt Russell added season's bests in the 100 & 200m and Rob Warner & Jason Lendon scored top points in the chase.
